Patterns Debuted! September 2019

A year ago this week, we were preparing for this exciting recital containing the debut of Judith Shatin’s monodrama, “Patterns” which I had commissioned. I met Judith years ago and our paths continued to cross.  Several years ago we began to discuss a collaboration.  There were so many wonderful poems and storied explored before we landed on Patterns by Amy Lowell. Two of my wonderful CCM colleagues, Kathleen Kelly and Vincent DeGeorge, eagerly jumped on board.  With Judith’s creation before us, we three dove in to create this mini-opera.  Never has work been more fun. The theme throughout the entire process was “Yes! And!”Yes! And….”
